Ecoleeko in Vegan Sampler!

Ecoleeko is a proud contributor to a Vegan Sampler Bag Sale! I will submit 50 special surprise Ecoleeko samples to be included in the bags along with 49 other contributors! All items will be "Vegan" and come in a handmade reusable grocery bag! As the excerpt from the Vegan Sample site states-

"Vegan doesn't apply to just foods, it applies to many items many people don't even think about. The following ingredients are NOT vegan: silk, honey, goat's milk, wool, leather, sugar (unless you know it is from a non-charcoal using process), beeswax, emu oil, Coral, Bone, Leather, Pearls (genuine saltwater or freshwater - glass pearls are OK, of course), feathers, milk, butter, angora, mohair, wool, cashmere, shell, gelatin."

The bags will go on sale on April 14th and 10% of the proceeds will go to a chosen animal charity to be announced. Please visit the site and support a great cause!!

Are you a crafter/artisan interested in joining the sampler? Contact Heather to see if there are still spots left.....
"Anything that is made without animal products and the ingredients or materials arent tested on animals. Vegan doesnt just pertain to food. Soaps, food, jewelry, papercrafts, animal toys and treats, buttons, magnets, handknit items....If you have a craft and arent sure if your samples would be vegan, please feel free to email me at ecosampler@yahoo.com and I would be glad to clarify!"

CPSC New Update on Enforcement of CPSIA

A new notice has just gone out, dated Feb. 6th, 2009, spelling out the regulations for new lead limit enforcement..Ecoleeko is happy to say that dyed or un-dyed fabrics & natural materials, such as cotton or wool, will not be enforced with penalties according to this statement!
Here's a snippet:

Will Not impose penalties against anyone for making, importing, distributing, or selling

  • a childrens product to the extent that it is made of certain natural materials, such as wood, cotton, wool, or certain metals and alloys which the Commission has recognized rarely, if ever, contain lead;
  • an ordinary childrens book printed after 1985; or
  • dyed or undyed textiles (not including leather, vinyl or PVC) and non-metallic thread and trim used in childrens apparel and other fabric products, such as baby blankets.

    (The Commission generally will not prosecute someone for making, selling or distributing items in these categories even if it turns out that such an item actually contains more than 600 ppm lead.)

This is a good Start!!!
